The beginning of year 2011 could be a good time to reflect a little on the last twelve months. What a year it was, with the powerful build up of energies released through the combination of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in friction aspect. It must be obvious to most of us now that we are indeed in the middle of major changes in how we experience life on this beautiful entity called planet Earth.

I smoked marijuana most of my adult life. I stopped smoking it six or seven years ago because I became increasingly aware that I was using it to change my moods. I had often used it for that purpose albeit unconsciously, but there was a sense now that I was somehow ripping myself off.

On February 24th 2011, the Byron Community Centre is hosting the first Byron Shire Volunteer Expo. The doors will open at 11am and the expo will showcase organisations in the shire that rely on volunteers as part of their work force. Volunteer contributions keep the community vibrant and alive.

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realising the situation, decided to group together. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions even though they gave off heat to each other.
