The beginning of year 2011 could be a good time to reflect a little on the last twelve months. What a year it was, with the powerful build up of energies released through the combination of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in friction aspect. It must be obvious to most of us now that we are indeed in the middle of major changes in how we experience life on this beautiful entity called planet Earth.

As an astrologer I have recently noticed upsurge of interest in composite or synastry readings — many more questions about relationship dynamics than purely personal readings… looks like the mating instinct is in the air. I guess this could be rationalised with the onset of the spring/summer season however there is also a deeper astrological reasoning.

Sometimes it’s amazing being an astrologer because of the huge flow of information that becomes accessible through ‘the language of the stars’, with all its wonderful symbolism. Hence I really enjoy this mag page because it is an opportunity to upload a portion of my experience in this work. The current Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn and Pluto aspect is offering ways of navigating the transition into a new awareness, but for now the world must find a way to deal with all the massive changes?

In the last issue of InJoy I attempted to convey the opening into psychic awareness that is being communicated to me by many clients as they move through the portal opened by the very mystical conjunction between Neptune and Chiron. The article was called Where Is Love. In that article I described a journey through a psychic sea of sadness [memory] into what I can only describe as the ‘Blessed Psyche’, a place—or no place—of infinite vastness containing all non-existential phenomenon.

Now I know I chose a tough topic for this astro diary entry, volumes have been written and all manner of descriptions given to the term love, mostly it is the very human experience of personal love, or love between man and woman, and this can be defined as an energy state created to bridge the idea of separateness or aloneness we all can feel in this earthy state of separation, often driven by a very personal or emotional and desire based feeling.

Pluto symbolises our deepest collective wounding. Pluto rules transformation on the deepest level, death and rebirth, and our persistent attachment to guilt. It also has a very persistent, and often catastrophic way of bringing our awareness to these issues. The position of Pluto in the birthchart depicts the doorway through which volatile compressed pockets of self, spirit and primal energy lies hidden, which will be released either by our own efforts or by provocation from the outside world. An entire generation will share the same sign positon for Pluto, and this suggests the collective mark they make on the world... how they'll transform their world and how the external events of their world will transform their generation.

In simplified terms, Astrology is the poetry of Astronomy; a subjective universe v/s an objective universe. Astronomy describes very well what the universe appears to be; Astrology describes how we feel it and what it means to us. The emphasis is put on the seeker, not what is sought, and Astrology is recognised as one of the oldest sciences coming from a time when we were less scientific and much more intuitive.
