As a keen observer of literary-style magazines, my immediate impression of Injoy is that it’s something very different. It’s not often that a magazine has content that’s consciously uplifting; that seeks to inspire. Too often magazines overflow with negativity, cynicism and stereotype.
Injoy celebrates the characteristics of community that hold it together, rather than the differences that can pull us apart. I love the first cover: the enhancement of Le Nu Provencal with butterflies gives the impression of a new form of narrative emerging from the darkness of an old-style cocoon.
What strikes me most about the cover, however, is the top right corner and two simple words: always free. This doesn’t invoke in me a sense of gratuity, but more an evocation of philosophy. What a wonderful maxim for life – be free to find your own way through the puzzle of life without the hindrance from others, or the obstacle of your own insecurities.
I have no doubts that Injoy Magazine will be setting a new benchmark in community publishing.
